2008-07-03Credit crunch sends consumers back to the high street Where can you find local meat that’s good value?High streets across the north of England are faring better than other outlets in the current credit crunch as consumers opt to stay away from out-of-town shopping centres.
Research statistics quoted in the Financial Times show visitor numbers to out-of-town retail parks are on the slide – due to the high cost of fuel and type of purchases made there – with high streets faring better, managing to hang on to a higher proportion of their shoppers. The economic climate is also encouraging new shoppers to take a fresh look at what is available on their ‘doorstep’.
Local high street butchers are one of the stores offering excellent value local produce when comparing like-for-like with premium supermarket brands. They also offer excellent knowledge on their produce along with plenty of tips on best value cuts and cooking methods.
With many shoppers reportedly switching to cheaper supermarkets to do their weekly shops, there has never been a better time to visit your high street butcher for quality, local, good value meat such as the Three Dales brand – raised on local family farms and sold exclusively through independent butcher’s within 25 miles, or so, of Ilkley.
