2007-06-14Go seasonal this summer with lambIt’s official - local food is healthier!Seasons form the natural backdrop for eating healthily. It is as nature intended - eating food raised close to where you live when it has its highest nutritional content.
But eating seasonally also has wider implications than health. The Soil Association estimates that 70 per cent of UK food is imported. In order to provide year-round availability, some food travels thousands of miles before it reaches the consumer. Environmentalists argue that the energy this uses and the pollution it causes make it simply environmentally unsustainable.
The answer is to buy locally produced, seasonal food. From early summer, local lamb is at its absolute best, so why not try eating seasonally and adding Three Dales Spring Lamb to your menu? Why not try some of our Three Dales Spring Lamb recipes?
And subject to the weather, the barbeque season is almost upon us! Why not visit your local Three Dales butcher for great-tasting sausages, burgers and steaks. Find your local butcher.
