Three Dales butcher features on TV documentary series
Channel 4's Dispatches converts locals to Eshelby’s
C4's long-running documentary series, Dispatches, has been investigating the real cost of swapping expensive premium-range food for cheaper budget lines as the credit crunch bites.
The results have boosted the sales of the featured Three Dales high street butcher, due to national exposure of their quality local produce along with their range of promotions and value cuts available on a daily basis.
As part of their investigation Dispatches pitched the supermarket against the high street and sent a shopper to buy from Frank Eshelby's, a Pudsey butcher and stockist of Three Dales quality local meat.
After buying fresh, local produce for the duration of the trial, the Dispatches customer was converted to shopping at Eshelby's and has now become a regular.
A second shopper, who was only allowed to purchase meat from a supermarket during the TV trial, has subsequently switched to purchasing from Eshelby's, as have many of her friends.
Eshelby's has reported a dramatic increase in sales following the positive airing on Dispatches, as the focus on quality, value and local produce drives people away from supermarkets and towards their high street butcher.
"Dispatches has provided us with the opportunity to remind people that we're here – offering them high quality local produce, a wide range of cuts and great value, along with a service level that you just won't find in a supermarket," said Frank Eshelby. "It's been a great boost as we're attracting more and more customers." Find your local butcher.
